Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do you mean by "On Location?"
A: DoctorYourPC.com specializes in coming to you at your location. Many times computer problems are related to how and where a computer is used. Being able to observe the system on location will make the service more efficient. In addition, we can show the user short cuts and operating tips, which will prevent future problems.

Q: The "On Location" service sounds great, but I am concerned about having someone I do not know come into my office or home.
A: We agree with you. That is why we have taken steps to insure all our customers can have peace of mind about our credentials. We will be pleased to give you the names and phone numbers of other customers. You can check up on us before asking for an appointment. Our whole business philosophy is built on service and serving others. We are sensitive to your feelings and the privacy you enjoy in your home or office. We will do everything we can to win and keep your trust.

Q: What do you mean by "Affordable?" I see the advantage of having you work on my computer at my location, but what's it going to cost? When I call a plumber or air conditioning person, the bill usually turns out to be quite expensive.
A: Our rates are far below those of other "on site" services. We charge $25.00/hr. with a 2 hour minimum. The time starts when we arrive at your location and ends when we complete the task. We have set our rates at a level which will encourage computer owners to deal with problems before something major occurs. For most people, a computer represents a major investment. But over time, you will spend far more on software, not to mention the value you place on your data files. Involving us now can prevent larger problems in the future. We hope our rates will encourage you to use us now.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: You can pay with your check or we also accept all major credit cards.

Q: What about software and/or hardware. If I need to purchase software and/or hardware, how does that work?
A: In most cases we will show you how to purchase these items yourself, so you can save money. We do not represent any software or hardware manufacturer. Therefore we are free to recommend the best solution, not the one we endorse. Our company is a service company built around services. We do not handle any retail sales.

Q: I notice you do telephone consultation. How does this work?
A: Most issues are best solved on location where the client operates day in and day out. In some instances, however, the client may benefit from phone direction, thereby saving the cost of a service visit. When this happens the charge is $10.00/hr. If we determine the problem cannot be solved over the phone, then there is no charge for the phone service. A separate service call appointment will be made to address the problem. There is never a charge to speak to current or potential clients who call in regarding questions or service.

Q: Is your work guaranteed? What happens if you can't solve my problem?
A: Our whole business philosophy is built on service and serving others. If we can't fix the problem or you are not 100% pleased with our service, there is no charge. If we can't provide the solution, we will say so and will assist you in locating someone who can.

Q: What kind of services do you provide? What are your specialties?
A: Please check our SERVICES page for a listing of the types of assistance we offer. The list is a good indication of what we offer, but does not cover every issue. When you call or E-mail us, please explain your problem as well as possible. We specialize is the types of problems and issues related to everyday users - things like internet access, virus protection, firewalls, E-mail spam, computer slow downs, frequent crashes, simple networking, wireless hook ups, word processing issues. We also assist small businesses with getting on line with that first time Web Site - registering domains, selecting a Web hosting company, things of that nature.

Q: Who is the best candidate for your services?
A: Anyone who feels technically challenged when it comes to computers.

  • First time computer owners - those who at any age wish to became more knowledgeable
  • Seniors who want to enjoy the world of on-line access.
  • Dial up customers who want to upgrade to high speed access.
  • Small business owners or home users who want to install simple local networks. The same holds true for those wanting local wireless networking between computers or while traveling
  • Computer owners who have held off upgrading that "old computer" or "operating system" because of all the confusing information.
  • First time or current owners who plan to purchase replacement or addition computers and who want to get the best "bang for their buck."
  • Owners who want to learn how to navigate their programs and use their system more efficiently.
  • Owners who want to learn how to check their computers and solve more of their issues - those who want to feel less intimidated.

One concept we hope we can communicate to all our clients - it's not as complicated as you think... it's not brain surgery. The reason so many owners find computers so intimidating is no one has taken the time to explain the ins and outs in simple everyday terms - that's what we try to do.
